If your children aren’t off at camps or their job is only part time, a few weeks into summer they might just be driving you up the wall. - Go For A Bike Ride In Your City- Most cities and suburbs today have carved out some type of greenway or beltline like trail as witnessed in my hometown of Atlanta. It could be for a walk or a bike, but taking in one of these trails while bringing along a little picnic can really make a fun day.
- Go See A Matinee- Prices for movies (especially 3-D and IMAX) have soared through the roof for kids. Don’t wait until the nighttime or the weekends to see a new release movie, but instead go for an afternoon matinee which will save you money. Don’t forget to stop by your local Walgreens or Five Below to pick candy for a dollar a box instead of paying big prices at the movies.
- Make Learning Fun- If you live in a major city, most of the federal buildings will have different educational sessions for kids. For example, The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta has a cool learning adventure about money and the kids can even get their own bag of shredded money. You might also find one of your county or state nature centers where the kids can truly learn about the local birds, insects, and much more.
- Bake Away- It’s so easy to find interesting recipes on social media. Get your kids excited about one or two desserts or dishes and make it with them in the kitchen.
- Young Eagles Program- Across many cities in the United States http://bit.ly/1ir5d07 children between the ages of 8 and 17 who are curious about flying a plane can get a flight for free. This may be ultra-cool for those kids hankering for a seat in the cockpit.
