Five Apps That Will Pay You To Shop

Spotting Red Flags In Your Finances

June 29, 2016

Shopping is usually an activity that makes you spend money.   In fact, with the ease of debit cards and credit cards today you can rack up big bills by simply turning your computer on to one of the major shopping websites.  So, I thought going into the summer it might be interesting to see what apps you could download that might actually pay YOU money to shop.

  1. Ibotta ( – Did you ever thing you could get paid to scan receipts from your phone?    Before you go shopping, you complete a few simple tasks and then you begin to unlock rewards.  With over 187 participating stores (and you can link loyalty accounts as well) it makes it very easy to make money with Ibotta.  Really, you end up just scanning bar codes and then taking pictures of your receipts.
  2. Swagbucks ( – With over $132,470,000 of gift cards that have been awarded to users, Swagbucks is an app that will allow you to earn free gift cards.  All you have to do is watch videos, take surveys, and shop online and you can earn FREE money via gift cards.  In fact, you can also play some games on this app and earn free rewards as well.
  3. Mobee ( Did you ever want to be a mystery shopper before in your life?  If you said yes, then here is your opportunity to get paid to shop.  Once you open up the app, Mobee will have ‘missions’ that are local to your zip code and surveys for you to take as a mystery shopper.   Once you complete the survey to help the business out with their customer services, you can begin to earn rewards and prizes.
  4. Shopkick ( –  With this app, kicks are considered reward points.    With this app, you can earn reward points (kicks) for simply walking into stores by seeing the merchandisers that participate in the Shopkick program.  If you open the app at the store entrance, it will recognize you are in the store and you’ll start earning kicks.  You can also earn kicks for scanning items and for credit card purchases as well.
  5. Mobile Rewards- ( – This app is even easier than doing some shopping because all you have to do is agree to download sponsored apps.  Think about this for a minute.  One of the ways apps sell for big money is based on the number of downloads.  So, is it worth it to these companies to have you download and open the app even if for 30 or 60 seconds?  If you stay active with this app, you can rack up a bunch of cash and prizes.

Isn’t it time you starting getting paid to shop!
