The Roth 401(k) Conversion: Pros and Cons

May 11, 2014

Since today is Mother’s day, I thought it would be cool to salute Moms that are carving the business world up and making money in all kinds of different businesses.   It is still true that the hardest job in the world is raising children.  I’m not sure you could really put a price on what that is worth, but here are a few moms who are doing double duty and putting themselves in a work optional position.

  1. Tina Fey With eight Emmy awards and Two Golden Globe awards, Tina Fey is recognized as one of the leading comediennes in the entire country.  She gained her notoriety as the head writer for Saturday Night Live and who could forget her portrayal of Sarah Palin.   Tina’s got two children and often donates her time to Autism Speaks.
  2. Coupon Mom Stephanie Nelson is The Coupon Mom™ and has taught television viewers and readers how to save in many areas, including groceries, restaurants, online shopping, gifts, and entertainment.   Since 2004 she has appeared frequently on television and radio teaching savings tips, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News, CNN, CBS Early Show, Fox Business, The View, Dr. Oz and The Doctors. Over 7 million members belong to her free grocery deals website. She has two sons.
  3. Joan Rivers  If you haven’t sat one Friday night and watched Joan Rivers in action at the age of 80 (yes 80), then you are truly missing one of the legendary talents of all time.   Joan isn’t slowing down at her age with two major TV shows, lines of jewelry, and much more.   We all know her sidekick daughter Melissa, but give it up for Joan on Mother’s Day.
  4. Sheryl Sandberg In a Silicon Valley world full of young kids with hoodies, Sheryl is probably one of the most famous women in all of the tech world.   Taking the day to day reigns at the COO of Facebook and launching it to a publicly traded company is no small feat.  While some doubted Facebook’s sustainability after its initial IPO, Sheryl help right the ship to push Facebook’s stock to an all-time high.
  5. Beyoncé Beyoncé gave birth to Blue Ivy in 2012 and was already a household superstar before she was a Mom.   Recently she appeared in the Super Bowl and she and Jay-Z are now getting ready for their own massive concert tour.  Count on Beyoncé to be releasing more and more albums and who could forget her performance recently at the Grammys.
  6. Emily Giffin It’s cool to write about Emily because she lives in my hometown of Atlanta.   Imagine having twins and still being able to keep your brain straight to write a half dozen or so super successful books.  Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Heart Of The Matter just to name a few.  She also donates a great deal of time to the Special Olympics and look for more amazing books that are sure to make the silver screen sometime soon.

Who says Moms can’t be badass?   Follow the leadership smart money moves from these Moms and you will surely have a few ideas on how you can improve your bottom line.
